"Giving voice to passionate visionaries"

James Lovelock wrote: “…science was provisional and could never be certain." Darwin admitted that great discoveries are only possible by “… standing on the shoulders of Giants.”

Young scientists face an uphill struggle journey for a vague destination is probably not very rewarding by most standards. They pursue their research with passionate energy because of their high ideals. Their work is a critical part of a larger knowledge system. Are they an endangered species?

Regardless of the answer, they deserve support and encouragement. The “Evergreen Fellows” program is targeted for special situations where access to other sources of support [foundations, governments or universities] is limited.

In order to leverage the impact, the present Fellows program has elected to concentrate on a limited number of species within a narrow geographic area.

At present, the Evergreen Foundation has granted fellowships to individual students to focus on the following species:

Jaguar
Ocelot
Scarlet Macaw
Crocodile
Green Sea Turtle
Leatherback Turtle
Titi Monkey
Tanya Frog
White Lipped Peccaries
Orchid
Cheetah
Polar Bear
Ojai Tree

A short summary of the status of each species follows.

At some future date, we intend to profile each individual student and their respective research project.
