The “Planet Earth” and
her delicate ENVIRONMENT are the cornerstone of the
Evergreen Foundation work.
“Environmental” issues are usually defined in terms of science, technology, politics, economics and/or government policy. However, the Evergreen Foundation is more concerned with the questions of ethics and human values. We believe the complex challenge of “Climate Change” is
not merely a moral issue; it may be the single most
important moral issue of the 21st Century.
The present debate about “scientific
uncertainty” is likely to paralyze and inhibit
action. Rather
than wait until the final resolution, the Evergreen
Foundation holds the following views:
…The Planet Earth is in a
condition of deteriorating crisis.
…Human actions have been [and
will continue to be] a significant contributor to
this crisis.
...Extraordinary efforts and energies are essential.
…Business as usual is not acceptable. There is no “silver bullet”.
Multiple solutions must be developed.
…It is probable that all parties
will have to make real sacrifices.
